OBITUARY.

DR. O. J. REID. The death occurred at Wellington on Saturday, after an operation for appendicitis, of Dr. Oswald J. Iteid, eldest son of Mr L. G. Bcid, of Wesley road. The late Dr. Beid, who was only 38 years of age, and a native of Wellington, was educated at The Terrace School and at Wellington College, where he was not only a prominent scholar but also a successful atblcto. While at tho college he held the 100 yards and 220 yards championships, and for some years subsequently, when ho was studyiug medicine at Otngo University, hi> was captain of the 'Varsity Bugby fifteen. Dr. Iteid served as an officer in the Medical Corps throughout the Egyptian and Palestine campaigns, and on his return to New Zealand, while still in the service of the Defence Department, he did excellent work during the influenza epidemic. Subsequently he continued his professional studies in England, and for some timo he was in charge of the City of London Maternity Hospital. He returned to Wellington about two years ago, and after practising at Karori for somo months, he acquired at tho beginning of 1926 a practice at Takapau. He came to Wellington some days ago tc undergo an operation at Bowen street Hospital. Dr. Reid was unmarried.
