BANKRUPTCY RETURNS. FIGURES FOR WELLINGTON. i [THB PBESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, January 31. During the year 1926, 217 people filed bankruptcy petitions in the Wellington district. Of these 31 were employers, 88 employees, and 98 working on their own account. The leading occupations wero: Labourers 45, farmers 32 (also five farm labourers), carriers 10, carpenters 7, builders 5, butchers 5, contractors 4, bakers 4, sharemilkers 4, bank officer, civil servant, schoolmaster, accountant, clerk, chemist, horsebreaker, poulterer, licensed interpreter, woolbuyer, and retired farmer one each. There were three women.

At (ho wool sales a strong market ruled, with good support from all sections. Prices, compared with the closing rates of the last series, showed an advance of fully 5 per cent, for the beat descriptions, and 5 to 7i per cent, for ordinary aorts. Limbs' wool was in special request, and comebacks and crossbreds ruled very firm. Merino sold to 30Jd.
