CAR OVER BANK.

PASSENGERS ESCAI'E INJURY. On Sunday afternoon a motor-car which was proceeding to Akaroa went orer a bank near Duvauchelle Bay. The car ran down thirty feet, and spiked itself on a post, tho occupants having a miraculous escape. No one was seriously hurt, but the driver, Mr R. Ballantviie, received a gash ou the back of the head. The other occupants of the car were Mrs Ballantviie and her baby, aged she months; Jack Ballantync, aged nine years; and Molly Pratt, aged It vcars.^ Mr Ballantync was on his way to Akaroa, where ho had taken a house. Ho was going very slowly up a hill in order to get a good view of the harbour uiid hills. He crossed over the road to ♦.he right-hand side, and the bank gave w»3'. The occupants were thrown clear, .ind the car rolled down the bank. On its downward journey tho car struck n . post which went through the floor boards and prevented it from falling any further. The passengers were bruised and shaken, but escaped serious injury. The baby fell on the exhaust pipe and was bnnied. No great damage was done to the car.
