"Few school teachers seem to know that native birds are protected," sta,t-. od the' secretary of the New Zealand Native Birds' Protection Society, in a letter-which was read at the latest meeting of the Wellington Education Board. Pointing out' that during the last two months he had found three instances of school children with eggs of f antails in their possession, the writer suggested that the board should arrange for the supply of posters to all schools and that teachetß be circularised with' a view to obtaining Is subscriptions from the children for membership. Mr L. H. Atkins said it was good for the children to bo educated that native birds were of some use, and of more than aesthetic value. The Board agreed to co-operate in the distribution of posters, and to encourage children to join the New Zealand Native Birds' Protection Society.
