"William Frederick Jones, aged 47, was. drowned this afternoon in Whau Creek, New Lynn, through the capsizing of a seven-foot dinghy which wa* hcing used for the first time. Bis brother, Herbert Jones, clung to th« overturned boat, and was pluekUy rescued by Oswald McMillan.

William Jones intended to sail for Sydney by the Marama to-morrow, bat subsequently changed his mind, and visited his brother instead. ' *
