BRUTAL ASSAULT ON GIRL IN AUCKLAND.

AUCKLAND, June 24
An .extraordinary case was heard at the Police Court this morning, when William Wheeler Kennedy, aged 22', years,-.pleaded guilty to:'a charge of having assaulted a girl. : Constable McLean said that at <■*> p.m. on June 1-lth he saw the accused approach the comptoinant in the street and grasp har by .the throat and throw her on her back on the pavement He immedlately arrested Kennedy, who said: Its aU right. I'm subject tj fits and 1 teei lite assaulting, somebody so 111 pvo it a fly now." Accused, kepton say, ing: "You know what it is constable. He stated he would strip the girl and then strip himself. V Mr Poynton: That looks like symptoms of post epUeptic "It was a case of mistaken identity, your Worship," said Kennedy. 1* « had- been the girL. I thought it was it would have been all right.
