MARITIME CONFERENCE DECISION.

GENEVA, June 22.
The Maritime Conference hsc adopted a draft convention granting seamen the fullest guarantee in connexion with I punishment for crimes aboard ship, while leaving to the National Legislatures the right of fixing the penalties applicable to the different offences. The conference rejected a British amendment to exclude desertion, or absence without leave.
The conference entrusted the International Labour Office with the task of examining the penalties obtaining in the different countries for the breaking of seamen's articles of agreement, and is requesting it to submit the results to the joint maritime committee with a view to preparing an international solution.
