In the women's golf tourney, Mis 3 Burford beat Miss Fowler (South Australia) 6 up and 5 to play. ) The St. Anne's long driving competition, on the eve of tie opening of the championship, was won by Compston, with an aggregate of 790 yards 7 inchis. Middlesex in the first innings made 250 runs (Heurne do, Bruce 53, McCaulay taking o wiokets for 70 runs), and in the second 367 (Hendren 213, MoCaulay taking 6 wickets for 84). Yorkshire in the first innings made 415 (Holmes 73, KHner -50). The match was drawn. Hendren is the first to reach 1000 runs for the season. Surrey, in the first innings, made 136 (Hobbs 70, White taking 7 for 42), and in the second innings 346 for eight wickets, when they declared (Sandham 54, Shepherd 54, Peach, not out, 73). Somerset in the first innings made 81 (Peaob taking 6 for 30), and in the
second 324 (Johnson, not out, 217, MaoBryan 51). Surrey won by 77 runs. Oxford in the first innings made 237 (Abell 50) and in the second 281 for 8 wickets, when they declared (Taylor 81). Essex, in the first innings, made 283 (Freeman, in, 113, -Mcßride taking o for 60). and in the second 239 for 6 wickets (Eastman 53). Essex won /
four wiokete. Cambridge, in the first innings, made 276 (A. E. Gilligan ,taking 4 for 32;, and in the second, 248 (Entkoven "iS, Tate taking 4 for 44 and Cox 3 for 24). Susses, in the first innings, made 334 (Bowley 64, Tate 59, Cox 57. Williams 76), and in the second, 91 for three wickets. Sussex won Ij For Kent against Warwick, Askdown made 104. Freeman, in the first innings, took 6 wickets for 115, and in the second 7 for 78. For Warwick, Partridge, in the first innings, took 6 for 61, and in the second, 5 for 107. Kent won. For Northants against Worcester, Jupp made 197, and Nicholson took 5 for 51. For Worcester, Root took 5 for 43, and Wilson o for 110. Northants won. For Gloucester against Derby, Dipper made 118. The match was drawn. For Notts against Glamorgan, Walker made 124, Payton 119, and Flint not out. 100. Richmond took 4 wickas for 19. For Glamorgan, Hills made 105. Notts won. For Leicester against Hampshire, Geary, in the first innings, took 7 wickets for 42, and in the second, 7 for 44. For Hampshire, Newman took 6 for 33. Hampshire won.
