FAR-REACHING PROPOSALS. CHURCH OF ENGLAND REPORT. (BT CA3LS—fUESS ASSOCIATION—COPTKSHT.) (AuSTBALIAN AKD N.Z. CABIB ASSOCIATIM.) (Received June 22ud, 7.25 p.m.) LONDON, June 22. Far-teaching proposals to endow Bishops of tho Church of England with unfettered power to declare judgment on matters of doctrine and discipline, are embodied in the report of the Eccleeiaßtica] Courts Commission, which being presented to the- Church Assembly on July oth. It is proposed that tho ecclesiastical jurisdiction of tho Judicial Committee of the Privy Council be abolished, that various Acts of Parliament regarding Church discipline should be repealed, and that offending clergy should be liable to deprivation or excommunication by bishops' courts.
The Bishop of Durham, who is oil® the signatories, makes a reservation, so far fts to express the Opinion that a final court on doctrine is incompatible with Royal supremacy.
