MONTHLY MEETING. . The monthly meeting of the Okain's Bay Road Board woe Held, on, Monday. . Piesont —Messra J. It. Thacker (chairman), W. Robinson, R. J. Bailey, E. Waghorn, and P. E. Mooie. Messrs Duncan, 1 Cott&rill and Co. forWhrded an agreement between Pigeon Bay Road Board, Okain's Bay Road Board, and ratepayers concerned in the formation* of a road from Menzies' Bay to join Kay's road, in' tho Okain's Bay road district, via Decanter' Bay. Members of the Menzies family, were giving £7OO towards the formation of the road, and the agreement provided that the Pigeon Bay Road Board should - bear the total cost 01 the, road, including a-portion in the Okain's Bay district; but that after completion Okain's Bay Road • Board. be responsible for tho maintenance of its portion. 1 ' Messrs E. Hay, chairman, <?f tho Pigeon Bay Road Board, and "H. Menzies, representing the residents ooncerned in the new road, then attended the .meeting. They exhibited plans and asked for favourable consideration by the Board, as the road was urgently needed as an outlet for ratepayers in Menzies': Bay and Decanter Bay. It was stated that during the. previous deputation in the matter, Mr Menzies had stipulated that at least £IOO of his gTant was to be spent on improvement to Kay's road, but the agreement did not provide for this. Messrs Hay and Menzies said this t-rcvision had been . overlooked, in drafting the agreement, but they would guaranty that the £IOO would be paid to Okain's'Bay Road Board to be spent on .Kay's road. A resolution was then passed agreeing to the condition of the agreement, and . Messrs J. R. Thacker, E. Waghorn, and the felerk were authorised to sign Bame ,on behalf of the Board. Messrs Hay and Menzies thanked the members for their decision and for placing, no obstacles in the way of the proposed' hew road. Mr Thacker - replied that the Board was only too willing to assist in getting gooH roads for the people,, and on' behalf of Okain's Bay Road Board wished the proposal every success. Messrs Hay and- Menzlee-"" thei; retired. Mesprs Dunpari, Cottefill and Co. advised that' Mr T. G. Ware's solicitors had advised that Mr, Ware's cjaim for royalty on. stone had been abandoned in its present form. Mr E. Waghorn reported that G. Waghorn and J. Craw had agreed to a new tite for their No. 10 metal spalding contract, about half a mile further down. It was reported that the' work at the Trough corner, near the lop of Okain's Valley road',- was -almost completed, and a very great improvement to the former sharp bend had resulted. ' .Mr Thacker said that Mr 0. Thehiing had promised to do work on Cameron's road , before next spring., In the meantime, Mr Moore - was authorised ' to put on a man to remove any dangerous stones. Residents of Litfje Akaloa and Chorlton requested the Board to take Bteps to, have Messrs C. E. Kay, R. Herriott, B. Waghorn, E. R. Waghorn, and A. G. Shuttleworth gazetted as a Cemetery Board. The, clerk said this was a matter for the Akaroa County. Council, .and. he would pass ths request on to the county clerk The clerk was instructed to write the Public Works engineer asking what, quantity per chain of , metal w%s required" to be put on Herriott's road, as the specifications did not provide for metalling, which liad since been authorised by Mr Simpson. # No applications wore received for the position of ranger for Little Akaloa and Chorlton, but an offer since made by Mr Geo. Waghorn to act as ranger at 18s per week was accepted. The chairman-said he had Been -Mr Reg. 0. Mason, who wag agreeable to a slight rei adjustment of land in order to improve a sharp corner above his place, but be would also have to' consult Mr H. J. Mason. The clerk was instructed to order some cement pipes for Little Akaloa and Chorlton Accounts amounting to £lßl 6s lid were passed for payment.
