In order to give the City Council authority to make a grant of £IOOO to the Pearson Memorial Fund, approval was voted last evening of a new clause foe. insertion in the Local Legislation Bill, The By-laws and Finance Committee reported:— I .The City Solicitor has forwarded an amended draft clause in connexion with ' the,validation of the Councils grant of £IOOO to the above-mentioned' fund, j This clause is in lieu -of" the'one submitted by the Department of Internal Affairs, and reads as fqllows orising the Christehurch City Council to contribute towards - the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund.—lt' shall be lawful for the Christehurch City Council "to contribute out'of its district fund a sum of not more than £250 in each year for four consecutive years, the first of such payments to be made in* the year .ending December 31st, 1926, to the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund." The Town Clerk is taking the necessary steps to have this amended clnuse inserted in the Local Legislation Bill. The report was adopted.
