SEA-LION AT SUMNER. Two residents of Sumner, leaning idly against the rails of the Pier yesterday morning, were astounded \ when ■ they found that a large.black object which! reared in shallow water below them was .a ferocious-looking sea-lion. It was a-splendid specimen, about six feet in length, and possessed, in-addition to its ■■ long, drooping ( whiskers, a. pair of formidable tusks. 'After playing about the Pier for a short time it made off leisurely up the Estuary. When the news spread, a number of people made their way to Shag Bock corner and along the beach near the tram-bridge, in the hope of catching a glimpse of this rare visitor, but it had disappeared s by: that time.
