SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the Scottish Society of New Zealand was held last night. There was a large attendance of members, and Mr J. H. Chisbolm presided. The chairman stated that, it gave liim much pleasure to see the Society in such a favourable position. Ho congratulated the members on the financial side as shown in the balance-sheet, and trusted that the success of the Society might be maintained during the current season. The report of the Council of Management stated that during the paat session 17 new members had been enrolled, making a total of 215. The Pipe Band, which had been recently formed, had taken fourth place at the late piping competition, which was a very creditable performance for a new band. On Mr T. Pott'a motion, it was decided to hold the annual picnic at the Biccarton Kacecouree on January 3rd, 192". Th« chairman said that the attendance at the members' meetings had been very poor. The Council had been endeavouring for twenty years to remedy the matter, but nothing had ao far been done. Programmes bad been arranged, but owing to the poor attendance of member*, it was not worth the trouble. Mr A. Ireland moved that the matter should be left to the incoming Council, and this was agreed to. The following councillors were elected: Messrs D. A. Campbell, D. G. Dickson, A. Ireland, G. McAllister, W. Mcßae, Geo Speirs, James Wills, and David Sievewright.
