TAKING GOLD FROM THE GOLDEN SHOTOVER RIVER. A MOST PROMISING PROPOSITION. Mining engineer* still maintain that the f&mtfis Shotover —the richest gold-bearing river in the world —still holds thousands- and thousands of pounds worth of gold, more by far than was taken out of it during the good old mining days. A group of New Zealand business men—the Shotover Consolidated, Limited —realised that the only way to get gold out of this river was to get at the crevices, where gold lies in great quantities. The old-fashioned methods, such as the bucket dredge, were quite unsuitable, having neither the power nor the ability to reach the gold. The only method is the modern suction dredge. The Shotover Consolidated, Ltd., is a new company formed to properly dredge nine miles of claims of the Golden Shotover. A new high-powered dredge of the suction cutter type is being used by this Company to draw up the gold-bearing material from the crevices by suction. Another special feature of the dredgo is an air-tight diving bell which enableß a miner to go down and investigate, and work the crevices in the river-bed. The promoters have personally taken up 17,000 contributing shares, thus ensuring the notation of the Company. Only 23,000 £1 shares are available to the public. These, may now be obtained at par: 2s on application, 2s on allotment, and the balance in calls not exceeding 2s, at intervals of not less than one month. The Shotover Consolidated, Ltd., is the soundest and mo3t promising gold-mining proposition on the market, and those who wish to get in are advised to make application for shares without delay, as the demand is daily increasing. Copies of Prospectus, containing maps and full details, may be obtained from any hranch of the National Bank of New Zealand, or direct from the Local Broker of tm Company, Mr Arthur L. Gray, 132 Oxford terrace, Christchurch. 4160
