TO THE POLE.
FOURTH ATTEMPT. WILKINS EXPEDITION. (BY CABLE—IRESS ASSOCIATION—COrrRtQHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND H.Z CAfiLB ASSOCIATION.) VANCOUVER, April 28. On the journey northward from Fairbanks, Wilkins's areoplane, the Alaskan, nearly crashed on the Endacotts. The right landing wheel almost touched a snow bank. Since his arrial at Point , Barrow Wilkins has tried three times to . make the return journey, but each tirno has been forced back by storms and low-hanging clouds. He is now ready to make the fouxth attempt.
THE CIIANTIER. (BEuteb'b telegrams.) WASHINGTON, April 29. The Secretary of tho Navy, Mr Curtis D. Wilbur, has received a personal radio from Commander Byrd to-day, saying that the Arctic expedition ship Chantier will reach Spitzbergen by Friday. BYRD EXPEDITION. (RIOTER'S TELIOAAIia.) (Received April 30th, 7.15 p.po-) OSLO, April 29. Tbe Byfd Polar Expedition has arrived at King's Bay, Spitzbergen. The Bhip Chantier carries two aeroplanes on which it is intended to fly to tho Tole from a baso 400 miles away.
