The Manuka, from the Bluff, arrived -U hours late owing to tbe heavy weather. The '■ ship' encountered heaYy gales, and great waves, -10 feet high, swept over , the forecastle, reaching at times to the bridge. - Even when the centre of the disturbance had been passed, the heavy swell delayed ' the vessel, and rain quails' made, conditions unpleasant for passengers.
