N.Z. POTATOES.
BIG CONSIGNMENTS AT SYDNEY. (BI CABLE—rRKSS ASSOCIATION—COPYfIIOUT I (AUSTRALIAN AND N.fc. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received April 28th, 10.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 28. The arrivals of. largo consignments of Victorian, Tasmaniau, and New Zealand potatoes, totalling over 30,000 bags during the past couple of days has caused a fall of £2 to £3 a ton. Prime tirownells dropped to £ls a ton. The price of New Zealands is fixed at £ll to £l2 a ton, and contracts have been made for consignments of New Zealand tubers covering the next two months.
Victorian and 'Tasmaniau suppliers do not regard the New Zealand importations favourably, and there aro indications that the.v are rushing forward supplies with the object of breaking the market, where the values have lately ruled very high. New Zealand swedes are selling to £l2 a ton. The price of the New Zealand onions jusb arrived has not been fixed, but it is expected to bo about £lB a ton.
