Miss Nancy Gillies (Mayfield) is visiting friends iir North Canterbury. Mrs F. Reed and Mrs S. Nicholas (Timaru) are at Little River. Mr and Mrs G. Sheldon (Winchester) have left Greymouth on their return south.

Miss Gladys Meredith-Kaye, who is at the Hermitage, will return to Christchurch this week. Miss Ann Gillies and Mr Craig Gillies (MayficM; ;;re the guests of Mrs J. C. Miller (Orari). Miss Alice Barron (Wellington) is staying with Mrs I. Grant (Wai-iti road). Miss Tish Watson (Inveroargill) is the guest of Miss Alice McLaren (Highfield). Mrs Derrick Gould has arrived from Clinstchureh. and is at Holme Statiou.

Miss E. Burton (England), who was the guest of Mrs J. C'. Miller (Orari), has left on a visit to the North Island. Mr and Mrs Henry le Cren (Fnirlie) have returned from a motor trip to Nelson and the West Coast. The engagement is announced of Hugh Lowrv, younger son of Mr and Mrs W. Jennings (Cliristehurcli), to Edith Mary, third daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Towell ("Ardlogie," Waihao Downs). Lieutenant-Commander Graham Watson, of ir.M.K. Diomede, and Mrs Graham Watson arrived from Mount Cook yeMeulay, and are the guests of Mrs W. T. Ritchie (Gleniti). Mr George Ritchie (Dunedin) is also her guest. Caroline Bay.

At the annual meeting of the Caroline Bay Association, Mr C. S. Young presided. The electiou of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President, Mr F. S. Shrimpton; vicepresidents, Messrs Young, Cray, Triggs, Newman, Hole, Bcvell, and G. Bowen; hon. treasurers, Messrs Revell and Ferricr; hon. auditor Mr R. D. Mason; committee, the members present were .formed into a general committee, with power to add. Timaru Gun Club. The annual meeting of . the Timaru Gun Club was held in the, New Zealand Loan Company's office. The president, Mr W. R. Grant, was in the chair, and a large number of members was present. An interesting visitor ,to the port, the launch Rakanui, of 24 tons gross and six lons register, which is on a cruise on the New Zealand coast, arrived in Timaru shortly before 10 o'clock yesterday morning, after about a thirty-three hours,' trip from Dunedin. The vessel is owned by Mr W. R. Patterson, of Whangarei, and also on board are Mr Patterson's wife, son;and daughter, Miss Shoebridge, and. Messrs ; W. Williams, E. White, F. Mallach, . and Dr. Curtis. A match between the Temuka and Geraldine Golf Clubs resulted in a victory for Geraldine.
