FARMERS' UNION.
EXECUTIVE MEETS. The North Canterbury Executive of the New ZeaJand Farmers' Union met yesterday, Mr J. D. Hall presiding. The Canterbury Saleyards Company wrote stating that steps would be taken to prevent delays in the handling, of stock at the Addington yards in future. A similar letter was received from the North Canterbury Stock Auctioneers' Association. With regard to the same matter, the local traffic manager of the Railway Department wrote stating that when there was sufficient inducement special trains would be run. but such nould not be done when the ordinary trains were able to deal with the traffic without causing undue delay. It was claimed that ve.-y few of the delays complained of could be attributed to the Railway Department. A letter was received from Mr H. N • Hawke regretting that the Poultry Pr<>ucers' Association was unable to taKe avantage of the offer of the execute e to supply wheat on certain terms as the Association had completed arrangements with local merchants for special deliveries. ~ , The chairman said that a pamphlet had been received from the Imperial Labour Association, England, stating that a scheme was being carried out bv means of which young men suitable for immigration were K lven ' 81 * months' special training.
