GRAND THEATRE.
It is refreshing, when light comedy or sophisticated • sex plays occupy so much of the attention of picture-goers, to go back occasionally to the old type of melodrama which was in vogue fifty years ago. "Sporting Life," the- current attraction at the Grand , Theatre, is based on the play by Seymour Hicks. which enjoyed such a good run at Drury Lane some seasons back. In its adaptation for the screen, with Marion Nixon and Bert Ljrtell in the leading roles, it' gains, rather than loses, its powers to interest and thrill. The intrigues of wine, women,"and s6ng all appoal to Lytell, as the young aristocrat on the brink of ruin, and the ' disclosures of life amongst the fast set of the English nobility are especially interesting to tne New Zealand born. Percy Marmont and Alice Joyce are the principals in "Daddy's Gone A'Hunting, the supporting picture. A special programme of music is presented. '
