FARMERS' UNION.

GERALDINE BRANCH. At the annual meeting of this branch' there was a good attendance, and- the president, ,Mr D. Lewis,' was in' thie chair. In the annual freport, reference was made to the work done during the year, and the beneficial work aocompUshed by the South Canterbury Executive was acknowledged, lb was stated that the present membership was 110. Gratelul reference was made to the good work of Mr Greig, Commercial Agent, Railway Department, and of Mr Chambers, Stationmaster at Orari, in the interests of farmers. The year concluded with a credit, balance of £l3. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr Lewis went into details, and in seconding • the motion, Mr Volckman complimented the branch which he said had of great benefit to farmers. Mr H. Verrall complained ' that whereas 7s was being _paid for Tuscan wheat at eo'iintry .stations, the papers said it was selling freely at 6s 6d. Mr Withers supported this and suggested that farmers' reports should be forwarded. .. Mr J. Kelliher referred to the grading of lamb and was supported by several members. * For the ensuing year; officers were elected as follows: —President, Mr D. Lewis; vice-president, Mr T. Paterson; committee, Messrs T. P. Wooding, J. McLean, H. Hill, G. Crotty. J. R. McLeod, F. Charles. F. South. F. Neutze, C. Wilks, J. South, W. Tait, R. A. Dixon, A. J. Burrows, H. Verrall. F. Pratt, R. Volckman. G. Withers, Jas. Kelliher, and W. Bell. On the motion of Mr Verrall a vote of thanks to Mr D. Lewis for his work as president was carried by acclamation.
