Tennis Championships were played yesterday in showery weather, the start being delayed owing to the soft state of the courts as a resntt <rf the heavy rain overnight. Some of; the matches had to be postponed, In the semi-finals of the Men's Singles Championship, Halms had a decisive win over Baker, in three straight sets, His placing and backhand work W/a8 too much for Baker. The scores were B'6, 64, 6-2. The other semkanal was between WHUard and Andrews. The Qourtj whieh was very soft, became greatly ehurned np, and the players, olthqugb using spiked ahqes, had dirV flpnlty in keeping their footholds. Milliard was unable to adapt himself to the conditions and played erratically. Andrews placed his shots with much more judgment and won the first set G-a. When the second set was 3-2, Andrews leading, plaj was abandoned for the day, on acconnt of rain. In the final of the "Women's Championship of New South .Wales, Mis? Boyd heat Miss Akhurst (the holder) 4-6, 6-8, 6-0, MiSs Akhurßt was well below her nana! form. M. .r.'.'j,, 1 .. .U.U.U. ......
