OPENING MEET.
BRACKENFIELD HUNT. The opening meet of. the Brackenfield Hunt Club was held on Saturday at tho Kennels, Fernside. The hounds were thrown off in Messrs Guy Bros.' property, near the railway line, and almost immediately a hare was found which, after riding a block of country, was lost in a plantation. After casting lower down, another hare was found which gave a splendid run from the Oxford road to the bank of tho Ashley river, where she was being bustled by hounds and turned back into Mr W. Smith's property, whore Brutus pulled her down. . It was a fitting end to a .splendid run over country that bad to be jumped. Two saddles were 'emptied, but no ono seriously hurt. The day was oppressively hot and wilting, so after one more short run the hounds were packed up aud followers were entertained at the Kennels for afternoon tea by the Huntsman And Mrs Ferguson, Members of the club expressed their thanks to the farmers who gave Ueir country to be hunted over. Those following were: Messrs H. Bethell, Master of the Hounds, on Skilful; R. A. Ferguson, Huntsman, on Perfection; 0, Court, Whip, on Wireless; Mrs Bethell on Peaceful; Mrs Fitch on Bob; Miss N. Henderson on The Tatler; Ruth Fear on Tottie; Messrs H. M. Burgin on Crib; F. Howard on Bill; JR. Chapman on Riot; S. Stokes on Venus; C. G. Fitch on Miss Heron; Manson on Bluestreak; T. Skevington on Homely; J. Kennedy on Rory O'More; H. Onne; E. Snellex on Wideawake; 0. Skevington on Shirley; J. Brosnan on Joe Logan; Vf. Parsons on Goldtown; P. O'Donoghue on Tom. There were also twenty boys and girls on foot. There were following in cars: Mrs Fear, Miss Rutherford, Mrs Parsons, Mrs Howard, Mrs 8. Wright, Mrs J. G. Milne, Misses McCarthy, K. Milne, Mrs C. H. Hinton, Misses A. Kenyon, C. Milne, R. Milne, and H. Ferguson, Messrs G. Smith, J. Vr. Brosnan, Rex Parson, and many others.
