The Labour Department reports that the United; States is facing a serious employment problem with a prospect of the first widespread labour shortage since the 1922 depression. There is a marked improvement in steel, building, textile, and shoemanufacturing lines, with strengthened demandß for skilled and unskilled workers. Heavy demands are being made on employment agencies throughout the country for labour in the fields and along the highways and in road construction. Previous employment records are expected to be shattered in automotive and building lines this year. Pull-time employment prevails in the textile industies of New Zealand anU Southern States. Mr Francis Jones, the United States Employment Director, says that there is going to be work for everybody who wanta work.
