MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
DEATH OF FREDERICK WITTY. (PItESS ASSOCIATION TELEGKA.M.) INYERCAFiGILL, March 29. At the conclusion of the inquest on the death of' Frederick Witty, who was killed on the North *road on March Bth, the Coroner returned a verdict that the deceased met his death through being run over by a car driven by John Gtiy Dennison. Dennison is the engineer eugaged by the Southland County Council to supervise the work of bitumenising the North road. Evidence showed that deceased, who was riding a bicycle, had been struck from behind, and thrown against tho wind-screen. Dennison was arrested on a charge of manslaughter. Bail was allowed in one surety of £2OO. Accused was remanded to appear on April 7th.
