"Sally of the Sawdust" is drawing large crowds to" the Grand Theatre this week, and ths- viscissitudes of Pop and Sally do not fail to make their appeal. The. element of comedy with the more serious note underlying it all, is a triumph for Griffith's directorship. Carol Dempster and W. C. Fields have made, themselves beloved by the picture-going public of Christchurch. It is a most cleverly worked-out story, tracing the lives of these two from circus poverty to rightful riches.
