The one-milo scratch cycla race, in which five men started from tho mark, was won by Nicholson, of Auckland, who jumped ahead in the last half-lap while Border and O'Sbea were watching each other, and this enabled .Nicholson to win by a wheel from O'Shea, who beat Horder 'by inches.
