SHAG ROCK POOL.
The Rcdcliffs Burgesses' Association, at its meeting on Friday evening decided to support the scheme for a. bath at Shag Rock pool to provide facilities -for seabathing free from the dangers of the open beach. . . : ■ ' The president of the Association, Mr S. i\ Marshall, was in the chair. A deputation consisting o£ the Mayor of Sumner, Mr W. H. Isicholson, and Cr. H. W. Harris waited - on the Association and explained the scheme in - detail. It was proposed to trap the various inlets to the pool through the tramway embankment; to face the embankment with concrete up to the height of about 8 feet; to provide a netting'fence along the top of the proposed wall to prevent any access to the tram lines by children; and to erect bathing sheds at each end of the pool. This would provide a bath about 10 chains long. The Mayor atated .he had had various donations in money arid material. After the deputation had withdrawn a discussion took place, when the scheme was heartily endorsed, and the Association decided to give £SO and later to inaugurate a canvass of the district. Cr. Harris was appointed the Association's representative on the proposed executive. The Summer Borough Council wrote thanking the Association for its letter regarding the. Eedclifis drainage scheme, and stating that a committee would shortly report on the cost of fitments. It was decided to write to the Hon. J. Barr thanking him for his successful efforts in having the 7.30 ft.ffl. «xpres3 tram from, Eedclifis retained.
