— t — TIiMARU. Social and Personal. Mrs B. 11. Rhodes (Sealey street) lias gouc to Martinborough on a visit to Mrs Arthur Martiu. Miss Ella Tripp (Orari Gorge) is the guest of Mrs Hope (Wai-iti road). Mrs J. P. Xcwmau returned from C'hristehureh yesterday. Mrs Murchison, who was with Mrs Lewis Mathia3 (Eairview), has returned to Blenheim. ® i Mrs Wigley (Park lane) will leaTe to-day for Wellington, on a visit to Mrs Otway. Mr and Mrs Simon MacKcnzie, Miss MaeKenzie, and Mrs A. B. MacKenzie (Eainelift - ) .are visiting Christchurch. Drs. Eleanor Baker McLaglan, and Nurse Atkinson are at present examining the younger pupils of the Point school. ' ' ' Mrs E. \R. Guinness intends to leave Timaru next month on a visit to her daughter, Mrs H. Lavallin-Puxley (England). Miss Joan Westmacott (England), who was at Otaio with Mrs H. B. S. Johnstone, has returned to Timaru. Thoso who returned from Mt. Cook on Thursday, included Miss M. Cameron, Mr Par'khurst (England), Mrs and Miss Raphael (Christchurch), and Mr [ Tryall (Australia). GERALDINE. For the month of February the highest shade temperature recorded hero was 92 degrees; tho rainfall for the mouth was four and one-third inches. A team of Fairlie bowlers played a match against the local club. The green was fast and in excellent order, and the match resulted in all five. Geraldine rinks being up. The aggregate points were: Geraldine 127, Fairlie 73. In connexion with, the local Queen Carnival, Captain and Mrs Kerr gave a garden party in their beautiful grounds on the Downs and the Library Green Committee provided several stalls in addition to fortune telling, games, competitions, etc. The Library Queen, Miss It. Blakiston, arrived in a decorated car and was attended by a maid of honour. At tho_ entrance gates the Queen was received by Captain and Mrs Kerr and 'was presented with bouquets by three little flower girls—Ornie Smith, Joyce. Smith, and Jean McClure. The Geraldine Brass Band . was present, having volunteered to help the Library Committee, although the hand has a rival Queen. The. selections played by the band were much appreciated. The party was an exceedingly pleasant and merry one.-
