Yesterday was another full clay at the Band Contest, iivc solo sections being beard 'during the day, and four recalls in the B fiat cornet championship solo. Trombone trios and quartets are playing off at the evening session. j The various solo classes attracted wood entries, and some good playing was heard, particularly in the championship cornet solo tests. The results were:— E Flat Soprano Solo—l. Cougblan (Kaikorai), 91, 1; T. McLeaii (St. .kilda), 90, 2; E. Webb (Queen Alexandra's Own, Wanganui), &>, and G. Whiting (Ashburton), 89, (equal) li. Also competed—K. Rawlinsou (Dannevirke) 81, E. P. Dunn (Woolston) 72, W C. Bailev (Christehurcb Municipal) 78* H. Brown (Hamilton) 80, G. Millward (Ist Battalion, Invercargill) 76, A. Bovey (Wanganui Garrison) 82. C. K. Pierce (Auckland Artillery) 76, S. Lowe (Fort Nicholson- 70. Bass Trombone Solo—o. Aldridge (Auckland Artillery) 90,. 1; D. "Wynks (Port Nicholson), 89; and L. Bell (Palmerston North), 96, 1; C. Smith (Kaikorai), 95, 2; J. Lees (St. Kilda), 91, 3. BE Flat Bass Competition—P. F. Lloyd (Wellington Tramways), 85, 1. Ho was the only competitor. At the evening session the finals of the trombone trio, quartet, and B flat cornet championship were decided.
