TIMARU.
Social and Personal. Mrs Or. Mathias (Cave) returned from Dunedin yesterday.Mrs Cecil Oliver, who was in Timaru, has returned to Lowry Peaks, North Canterbury,, Miss Margaret Harper (Whitecliffs) arrived from Fairlie yesterday, and is with Mrs Maurice Harper (Waitawa). Miss Todd (Christchurch) is the guest of Mrs J. H. India (Wai-iti road). Mrs J. C. Miller arrived from Orari yesterday on a short visit'to Miss Alice McLaren (Highfield). Mrs Pinckney (Hastings) and Mrs E. J. Boss (Christchurch), are with the Misses Cox (Nile street). Mrs and the Misses Orford, formerly of the Wailii school, have taken a house at Cashmere Hills (Christchurch). Miss Laura Bowen (Christchurcli), arrived in Timaru yesterday, and is the guest of Mrs J. A. Julius. Mrs W. H. Unwin (Church street) returned from Christchurch on Saturday. Mrs J. S. Guthrie, who is visiting Timaru, will return to Christchurch early this week. Colonel and Mrs Studholme, and Mr Derrick Studholme (Coldstream) motored to Timaru, to be present at the Mathias-Fisher wedding to-day. The Ven. Archdeacon and Mrs J. A. Julius (St. Mary's Vicarage, ThtJodocia street) have returned from Hokitika. Mr and Mrs A. Wagstaff (Te Aroha) are at present on a visit to Mr and Mrs E. Malcolm (Temuka), en route to the Dunedin Exhibition.
Mr and Mrs W. A. Morgan, who were in Timaru last week, motored back toAsliburton on Saturday, and returned to Christehurch yesterday. Mr and Mrs H. M. Stonyer (jNortn street) left yesterday for Queenstown. They expect to bo away about a month. _ The engagement is announced or tfay, second son of Mr and Mrs E. A. Bailantyne (Auckland), to Hilda, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs B. Is. Blakiston (Dannevirke).
