BLOWN ASHORE.
GALE STRIKES SCHOONER. (by cable—press association—copyright.) (AUSTRALIAN AND H.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) PERTH, January 30. A cyclone struck coastal districts in the vicinity of Broome and caused considerable damage. The schooner Mena was blown asliore in Beagle Bay. Fifty-one people aboard managed to reach the shore safely after a hazardous swim of 500 yards. , All the roads are blocked by fallen trees. Many windmills have boon overturned.
The Beagle Bay Mission Station suffered severely, but so far as is known nobody was injured.
