EMPTY HOUSE BURNED.

An old five-roomed dwelling, situated at the north-west corner of Bridge street and Pine avenue, South New Brighton, ■was destroyed by fire shortly before (J p.m. on Saturday. .The house, which was the property of Miss Maude White, of Hoon Hay Valley, was 32 years old, and it had not been occupied for five years. It was practically hidden in lupins. The New Brighton Fire Brigade did its best to save the house. A fire was discovered in tlie same dwelling on the previous Sunday, but cn that occasion the Brigade succeeded in suppressing the outbreak.
