SCHOOLBOY SHOT.
FATAL ACCIDENT AT GLASNEVIN Thomas Henry McFarlane, 15 years of age, son of "William McFarlane, farmer, of Glasnevin (near Amberley), was fatally injured while shooting on Saturday afternoon. He was <sut shooting rabbits with a cousin aged twelve. "Wlieji they came to a gorse and wire fence, McFarlane put the hammer of the double-barrelled gun down, and leaned it against the fence. He climbed through, and then tried to pull the gun after him. A hammer was evidently caught in the wire, for a cartridge exploded, and the charge lodged in his thigh. The other boy went to the father, and Dr. Thompson, of Amberley, was called. He arrived shortly before the lad died. The accident happened at about 3.30 p.m. The District Coroner, Mr H. A. Young, held the inquest at Amberley yseterday. Evidence was given by the father, the cousin, and Dr. Thompson, and the Coroner returned a verdict of death through lifemorrhage and shock, due to gun-shot. The deceased boy had attended school at Broomfield.
