GUN CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The eleventh annual meeting of the North Canterbury Gun Club was held m Lecc s Buildings on Saturday, the president, Mr . Skilling, occupying the cliair. There -were sixteen members present. Correspondence was read from Mr D. • Davidson (Culverdcn), stating a c l u being formed there, and asking , for . l . n^° 4 ™ tion and offering to purchase a clay-bird trap ■which tho club had for sale. The secretary was instructed to forward the necessary , formation. - +1 Mr W. AVhitford, lion, secretary of tne Lyttolton Gun Club, wroto asking »r support for a gifts sale, to be held on J 4th, sth, and 6th, in aid of their funds, &y donations of produce and fruit. Jt. F solved to bring the matter under tho notice of tho members. . Thn committee, in their annual report and balance-sheet, stated they wero pleased to be able to show that the club had maintained its satisfactory progress. were 147 members on the roll'* at tho beginning of the year, 18 new members had boen enrolled, seven resigned, ' and 12 had been strut* off tho roll. The report gavo » lengthv resume of tho different shooting matches held during tho season, concluding with the final shoot held on December •*r !?• being tho tirst of its kind held by tbo club. The financial position of the club as disclosed by tho balance-sheet was good. total receipts amounted to £607 13s 7a, ana. expenditure £602 !8s lOd, showing a P™* 1 " of £t Its Od, which sum, added to the credit balance* af £l2O 16s . r >d with which the year commenced, left a total credit balance of £125 lis 2d. , . . McClure, J. J. Matthew?, A. Prestney, and F. Jackson; life members, Messrs B. P. Kdwards and J. Skilhng, referee, Mr A. Prestney; hnndicappers, AJessrs f«. ftruerc and J. J. Matthews; committee, Messrs G. Greig, R. Giles, J. Worrell, O. Nolmes, J. .Rowlands, E. Hills, K. "Wheeler, ('. James, and G. Bevington; Programme Committee, Messrs J. J. Matthews and J. Skilling; auditor, Mr C. I. Jennings. The chairman, before closing the meeting, referred to tlic splendid work of the secretary, Mr JL D. Bettger, and moved that an honorarium of £."50 be paid him. The motion was carried.
