STRANGE SUICIDE.

The "Daily Express's" Nico correspondent says that Roger Murdoch, who is believed to have been born in Australia, aged about 40, committed suicide mider strange circumstances at his villa, Roquesbrune. Cap Martin. Murdoch v.'as not seen for several days, and a neighbour, becoming suspicious, informed the police who, when they broke in, found the window closed and a notice: ''Beware of gas," pinned in the entrance hall. The gas taps in the bathroom were turned on and the body v/as lying on. the rugs on the floor. Nearby was a letter stating he had sent his wife to England with his remaining money prior to committing suicide. Murdoch was president or several Riviera sports clubs and had been losing heavily at the Casino. The "Daily Express" says the police found two letters, one addressed to Josephine and the other to the Police Commissioner, wherein Murdoch said: "I have lost my money, my wife and child, and my honour." He had contracted debts and was informed by his solicitors that they could send no more money. The "Daily Chronicle" says Murdoch had a reputation of being wealthy, but was left practically without resources owing to continual ill-luck at gambling. His wife departed for home in ignorance of his ruin or intentions.
