MUNICIPAL STAFF'S PICNIC.

$ The Municipal Staff annual picnic was held at Pigeon Bay last Saturday. The' trip was made in perfect weather, although the sea was very choppy. Swimming was indulged in by a large number, while the remainder amused themselves playing cricket, rounders, etc. The John Anderson left for home at 5.30 p.m., while the tug Lyttelton left at 8.15 p.m., carrying, tie young folk, who had been dancing in the hall till that hour. In the afternoon, the sports were held, while the Municipal Orchestra played spirited music. The following were the results of the races:— Married Ladies—Mrs Kiven 1, Mrs Carson 2.
