INJURED WHILE DIVING. (special to "the press.") DUNEDIN, January 8. Hockey players throughout New Zealand will regret to learn that death has claimed one of the most distinguished players Otago has ever produced, Osgood Harry Gurr, of the City Club. Gurr, wliile diving at Brighton during tlie New Year holidays, so severely injured his spine that he passed away yesterday morning in Dunedin Hospital. Though only 19 years of age, deceased had reached the highest pinnacle of hockey fame. In addition to representing the province on several occasions, ho was selected to play for New Zealand in the test match against Australia last year, and his performance in that game was a material factor in the success of the New Zealand team.
