Victoria, in the second innings, bad lost four wickets for 63 (Baring not out. 22) when stumps were drawn. The weather was dull and the wicket still eoott. Oldfield opened briskly, and Kelleway livened ,up to keep pace with bis part- ■ ner. though he took no risks, Oldfield batted dashingly and tackled every loose ball and scored much faster than his partner, who took fifty minutes to cet 15 runs. After reaching the century Oldfield gave one chance at 101. Thereafter ho played faultlessly until caught at mid-on. Kelleway played careful and sound cricket, and his partnership with Oldfield added 226 runs. The Victorian bowling was weak and the fielding generally poor, with flashes of brilliancy.
