Bishop Taylor Smith, who is visiting Christchurch this week, ie an outstaud' ing figure ifl tho Anglican Church, He was Bishop p£ Sierra. Lgoso for six years, and was appointed ChapleinGeneral to the British Army in JOOI, and held that office all through the Great War- His greatest gifts are those of misgioner and preacher, and as such lie boeaiflc well known in tho Army. He lias been invested with the C.V.O. and C'.B., and is a Sub-Prelate of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Tho honour of C.B. was conferred on him bv his Majesty the King on his retirement from the Army. He had a wonderful reception in Australia, and charmed large audiences and congregations by his eloquence and personality. He is in Ohristchureh for only four davfl and will address a meeting in the Jcllie.oc Hall on Wednesday night, and preach at various churches on Christmas Day and the following Sunday. ashburton advts.
