JACK FITZGERALD TO RACE. Jack Fitzgerald, the Victorian champion, who has been in Christchurch for some weefcs now as yet has not been, able to secure msiih races, and, as there have been no scratch races, he has not had a chance to compete with New Zealand riders. - The Mairen.au Sports Club is holding aj>ig meetin" at English Park on Christmas Night, and he"has definitely decided to appear and compete in the quarter mile New Zealand championship on that night, and, also, in all the handicap events. AMATEUR ROAD RACE. Over forty riders faced the etarter in the fourteen-mile amateur road race at Riccarton on Saturday afternoon. The weather conditions were ireiy good. Result:—J. Burborough (42mm) l, W. Weir (4min) 2, G. Grett (4Jmin) 3, J. Hanson (3*,min) 4, Lanauze (3£min) 5, R. Eastwood (ljmin) 6, H. Waghorn 7, F. BuLi (SJmin) 8. The fastest time was put up by A. Day, 40min 25 2-6aec.
