TV alleged .Nationalist plot to tar Labour members in order to seevro a majority to oust the State <xOfcrnssen.t is still causing much heart-burning in Labour ranks. An official statement issued by too Australian Workers' Union says:— The Labour caucus should hare realised that for the vindication of its honour « was incumbent upon it to coll for th* resignation of -Mr Willis, Tke-preeide*» of tho Executive Council, and «w send the matter for further action to the annual conference. The statement declares that when a member of the Government uses » newspaper in his control to give publicity to a story disgraceful to other members of tho Government and pnrtj supporting it, and does it without * scrap of proof, then it is imperatire ho should be sternlv dealt with. The caucus would only hare been complying with the barest necessities of the ease it it had declared such » person unfit to hold a position of trust with the Party. The Hon. T. R. Sarin, Leader of the Opposition in the House, asked the Hon. J. T. Lang, the Premier, in Ytew of the fact that the caucus had decided to compel the newspaper. "Labour Daily." to withdraw its baseless retections on Labour members, whether hj» would see that the reflections cast on Nationalists in connexion with the case are also withdrawn. Mr Jiang replied ho had enough to do to lead his own Party without worrying about the Nationalists. He suggested it was -Mr BaT>a*6 job to defend his own party.
