The Government's decision to operate the 44-hour week early in the New Year is a victory for thp Trades Hall, which is stated to havo handed the Ministry an ultimatum demanding the immediate introduction of the measure. The ultimatum was handed to the Minister of Labour, the Hon. J. M. Baddelcy, yesterday morning, and the decision was reached to operate the Bill yesterday afternoon.
