The chairman of the School Committee (Mr J. M. Heath) congratulated the teaching staff on the excellent result of the year's work, and Mr H. T. Armstrong, M.P., spoke of the pleasure it afforded him in presenting the prizes to tho scholars. Jean Houghton was presented with the Dux medal (girls) and Mavis Anstiss received the second prize. Edward Clark received tho Dux medal (boys) and Ernest Cavell the second prize. Nancy Holland was presented with the "golden spoon" for domestic science and Jack Heath received the prize presented for woodwork. One hundred and seventeen attendance certificates were issued and a number of swimming certificates gained. A feature of the evening was the huge Christmas tree, laden with toys, for the younger children. Each of the children of Standard I. and the primer classes was presented with toys and. Sweets by Father Christmas.
