: # Breaking-Up Party. On Tuesday afternoon the breaking-up of Miss Pender's Kindergarten was held, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The prize-winners were:—Byllee Brown. Eae Carr, Jocelyn Gale. Jeanne'tte King, Sylvia Wethcy, Audrey Black, Betty Carr, Doreen Wclsford, Beryl Peters, Judith Wood, "Walter Raphael, Maurice Otley, Uoger Harris. All Saints' Sunday School. The Sunday School children's annual social took place on Monday evening, when there was a large attendance of children and teachers. Open-air games, and later indoor games, filled up the programme till supper-time, after which the prizes were presented by the Mayor (Mr W. H. Nicholson). First class prizes were won by: Una Powell. Una Bullock, Ilarry Thompson, Eric Williams, Lester Muiholland, Jack Lindroos', Huliu Lindroos, Douglas Aiken, and John Trompson. Second class prizes by: Elizabeth Richards, Lorna Best, Hilary Fryer, Janet Richards, Iris Mcllreveiiy, Row Carcw, Clifford Miles, Max Wiggins, Harold Harper, Maurice Miles. Rex Dawc, Revel Brownie, Burton Collins, Noel Collins. Third class prizes by: Gracie Williams, Elaine Fryer, Frank Coe, Morris Wcastall, Hugh Francis, Richard Fryer, Bobby MeLaehlan, Billy Mathews. Choir hoys—First equal, J. Lindroos and Hulin Lindroos; second equal, Lester Mulholland and Harry Trompsou. All Saints' Church. Carols will be sung at to-morrow's services by the choir boys in the morning, and by the adult choir in the evening. A distinguished cleric is to preach at All Saints' Church on Christmas night. Bishop Taylor-Smith is a very able' speaker, and until recently was Chap-lain-General of the British Army, and formerly Bishop of Sierra Leone, West Africa. He is coming on behalf of the C.M.S. Sumner Ladies' Guild. The lady members of the Sumner Guild of the Seamen's Institute visited Lyttclton en Thursday evening and gave a concert to the men in port. The following contributed items to a very attractive programme:—Mrs Cook, Mrs Wathew, Mrs T. B. Boulton, Mrs T. Gough, Mrs Mogridge, Mrs C. Crosby, Mrs Stevens and Miss Mogridge, Miss Barrett, Miss Stevens, and Miss E. Crosby. Messrs Lord and Tait, of the Port Hunter, also assisted. The men were afterwards entertained at supper, which was dispensed by Mesdames Baker and Thornley. Bowling. The following have been chosen to represent tho Sumner Bowling Club in Country v. Town at Sumner green on Saturday:—Cother, E. A. Johnson, Main, Kaphael; TJlingworth, Mitchell, Barlow, Hampton; Crawford, Maddren, Chambers, Henly; Edwards, Heslop, Newman, Booth. The president of the Redcliffs Bowling and Croquet Club (Mr H. W. Harris) and Mrs Harris entertained the Mayor and a number of larly and men members of tho club at the/ Arcade. Mr W. H. Nicholson, addressing tho gathering, congratulated the president and the members upon the continued success of tho club. Swimming Saces. The annual swimming races of the Sumner District High School were held at the pier this week, and were witnessed by the scholars and friends of the schooL The results we're:—

Girls: Natalie.Partridge 1, Olga Sergison 2. Junior girls: Thelma Wills; boys: Eric Stevens 1, Mick Poulton 2. Sumner Beautifying Association. Mr T. B. Boulton presided over the regular meeting of the committee of the Sumner Burgesses' Association. . Five new members were elected, making a membership of 153. Mr H. Buttle reported that tho trees planted last spring at Scarborough Park were doing well. Authority was given to effect repairs to the see-saws at Scarborough Beach, which were recently damaged by rough usage. It was decided to operate the children's chute on the beach during the school holidays. It was also arranged to formulate, at the next regular meeting, a scheme of planting at Clifton and elsewhere during the late autumn.
