TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION. 'Hie annual prize distribution oereraony of tho Christchurch Technical College, was held jr» the Choral Hall. Mr McGregor Wright, chairman of the Board, presided over a large atendance of parents and friends of the school. In Lis address, tho chairman referred to the death of the late Mr C. H. Opie, -who had always hen a good fnend to the College. The year had been a successful one, not only in roll numbers, but also in tho matter of making tho school useful to the community. For some years past they had been interested in augmenting" tho funds for the Old Boys' Memorial Hall, and tho amount actually collected was now in excess of £7OOO. The- Education Department had promised a grant of £SOOO, but there was still the sum of about £BOOO to collect before they would be in a position to build, and furnish the hall on the lines approved. The Director's annual report stated that the College had this year the record .enrolment of 422 new pupils, but on account of the epidemic, the return of last year's pupils was not. 10 great, and the numbers suffered a decrease of about 50. The pupils, monitors, and other school officers had lived up to the best traditions of the school. a>"! had been a source of strength in its working. The speaker conveyed to the chairman and members of the Board his deer» nrmreciiition of their rnnrtosv find, consideration, an d to his colleagues on the staff his appreciation of their kindness and co-operation.
