TRAMPING CLUB'S CAMP.

Arrangements are now well under way for the camp to be made by members of the Chiiatchurch Tramping Club at Castle Hill at Christmas. The party will leave Christchurch by one of the Otira excursion trains on Boxing Day and travel as far as CaBS. From there a tramp of about fifteen miles will bring tho party to the camping ground chosen which is in a large patch, of bush on the banks of the Thomas Kiver, close to Castle Iffi.ll. Using this as a base numerous trios will be made, including the ascent of Mt. Torlesse (6400 ft) and Mt. Envs (7200 ft). In addition to the above an advance party will leave Christchurch on Christmas Eve and leave the train at Avoca, and walking up the rough bed of Broken Kiver reach the camping ground in plentv of time to make all arrangements for the 'main party. There will also be a rear party, who will leave the camp at the same time as the rest and walk through the old Lake Lyndon road to Lake Coleridge, where the night will be spent. The next day will be occupied in walking up the old Harper road to the Harper River, and the night will be spent in the vicinity of the Harper Diversion Works. _ On the Monday the party will wa!k up the bed of the Haroer River, where no track exists, and crossing the Cass Saddle arrive at the railway in time to catch the train, it is hoped the same day. Officers have been appointed for. the trip. Mr G X Car.rinstonT chief leader, and Mr A. H. Shrubshall quartermaster. A comprehensive list of supolies has been drawn up, and arrangements have been made for the transport of ail baggage.
