A. & P. ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. >A meeting of the General Committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association was held yesterday, those present being: Mr Jas. Deans (chairman), Sir Geo. Clifford, and Messrs J. G. Hexdman, K. E. Alexander, J. O. McGillivray, John Deans, D. W. Wcstenra,, J. O. Coop, K. M. D. Morten, H. E. Peryman, Robt. Reid, Jas.-Stevenson, Duncan Gillanders, F. Hubbard, W. J. Jenkins, A. R. V. Morten, W. H. Nicholson, John Nixon, John Parlane, J. H. Stafford, Thos. Stevenson, Gordon iitoddart, li. Hay, and A. Chamberlain.

Apologies were received, from Mc3sro H. S. S. Ky.'.e, M.P., W. Hayward, ,L. W. S terry, It. R. C. Macfarlane, and R. W. Locfhhead. It was decided to hold the annual ram fair on March 18th and 19th. The Boyal Show. Letters from tho New Zealand Friesian Association and tho BlooraSeld Farm Company with reference to making improvements at the next show, were referred to the cattle committee for consideration. : Mr H. McLcnaghan, Killinchy, wrote eulogising the arrangements- made ior the convenience of exhibitors, particularly regarding transport. . A protest from Messrs 11. and J. Reid complaining of tho action of the Association in allocating the Grand Challenge Cup for rams to Messrs McDougall and Robertson, and complaints from J. A. Johnston and others, arising out of tho Show, were- referred to tho committees concerned to> deal with. Mr A. M. Weir, Menzies Bay, wrote in appreciation of tho manner in which the Show had been conducted. Ho etated that as one Si th \ lar gMt exhibitors of cattle at the show, he desired to refute many of tho abustT c f h marks that iad: bccn nxade regarding Charges for Green Teed. Tie Eoyal Society wrote with respect to charges made for green feed at the Show, and' asked that details of tho contract entered into with tho Canterbury Association an °, tho supplier of the feed bo forwarded. The president stated that tho Association had made nothing out of the supply of the feed. It has boen found 1 necessary to get 5130 bundles of feed for use at the Show. A member said that it was not right that the Association should have to supoly the information asked for. At Southfand, he etated, feed was not charged for, but more was charged to enter exhibits, so that tho feed was really paid for indirectly. Mr "VVestenra said that there rccmed to be an impression that the Association was making money out of the supply.of feed. Such, however, was not the case. It was etated that the Christchurch Association was the only one in the Dominion which made a charge for green feed. The president ?aid' that tho green feed had cost the Association something like £125. Mr Nicholson said that under the system' followed by the Association only those who wanted green feed for their animals paid for it. From what had boen said at the meeting' it seemed to him that in some other centres exhibitors paid' for the feed whether they required it or not through the entrance money. Eventually, on the motion of Mr Coop, it was decided' to forward a statement showing that the supply of -feed had resulted in a loss of about £3 to the Association. New Members.
