FAREWELL GIFTS.
On Monday evening last the Presbyterian Church Hall at Berwick street, St. Albans, was filled to capacity, the occasion being a farewell social to Mr J. Tennent, who has been associated with the charge for the past four years. Mr Tennent has been transferred to tho Belfast-Styx Church. The Rev. J. T. Armour, of Knox Church, eulogised Mr Tennent and his family, who were all keen workers for the church. Messrs Doak and Bryant made presentations on behalf of the congregation. Mr Tennent was- given a handsome roll-top escritoire, and Mrs Tennent two wicker chairs. Miss Margaret Tennent received a pearl necklace and manicure set, whilst Miss Elizabeth Tennent was presented with a massive bronze vase and a Bible. Mr Tennent, in a happy and appropriate speech, expressed heartfelt thanks for the gifts and the kind words said of him and his. He asked for the Rev. W. T. Todd the same cordial support as hud" been accorded to himself, and felt sure the charge would prosper under his care. Vocal items were given by Messrs Hannah and Francis, and recitations by Mr Moses.
