The Governor-General and Lady Alice Fcrgnsson visited Mosgiel on Saturday morning and received addresses of welcome from the borough and county. The Mayor (Mr Walls) mentioned that the last Governor who was officially welcomed at Mosgiel was Lady Alice's father, the late Lord tracted.

The Hon. J. Oraigie, M.L.C., was a passenger from the north on Saturday. Mr F. P Tymons has returned to Christchurch from Wellington. The Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Minister of Defence, will leave for Wellington to-night. Major and Mrs Haviland, of Government House, have returned to Wellington from the north. The Hon. Sir James Parr (Minister of Education) has returned to Wellington from Wanganui.

The Hon. A. J>. McLeod (Minister of Lands) will arrive in Wellington from, 'the north on Thursday. The Hon. G. J. Anderson, Minister of* Labour, will leavo Wellington, today, to attend the opening of the Gore Show. The Bev. J. H. Bogers, formerly of Ohristchurch, has resigned the cure of the parish of St. Martins, North-East Valley. Mr B. J. Righton, of Wellington, is visiting the Dunedin JExhibiton. Mr 'Riehton was secretary of the Exhibition in Christchuroh in 1906-6. • Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., was met b'v a large number of his supporters at the Westport Theatre Royal on Friday evening and presented with a suitcase, suitably engraved, Messrs A. J. Tanner, A. J. Simpson, and W. G. Lumby ? three of the Australian judges who judged at the Royal Show held at Christchurch, left for Sydney by the Maunganui on Friday. His Honour the Chief Justice, Sir TJobert Stout, returned to Wellington from Dunedin on Friday morning. Today Sir Robert Stout, accompanied by Lady Stout, will leave for Auckland. Mr David Jones, M.P., chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, and Mr Adam Hamilton, M.P., who were in Wellington to" attend a meeting of the Board, have returned south.

The Hon. R. F. Bollard (Minister of Internal Affairs), who attended tho opening of the A. and P. Show at "Stratford on Thursday, returned to Wellington: on Friday. Messrs W. H. Burridge (Wellington), T. O'Callaghaii (Taihape), M. Pohl (Sydney), J. Bowen (Sydney), E. W. Strain (Auckland), and O. Sommer (Amsterdam) are at the Clarendon Hotel. Tho Prime Minister, the Hon. J. G Coates. returned to Wellington on Saturday from the North. He is making a good recovery from the effects of a rather severe cold which he con'tracted.

His Honour Mr Justice Hosking left tor Auckland on Friday to preside over a sitting of the War Pensions Appeal Board, and to attend to matters in connexion with the Mortgage Extension. Appeal Board.

Mr T M. Henderson, of Vancouver, arrived'in Wellington by the Maknra. He is a commissioner of the Westminster Presbytery to support a call in the Wellington Presbytery addressed by the Central Presbyterian Church, Vancouver, to the Bev. S. Bobertson Orr, of St. Andrew's Church.
